The goal
You've been hired for the night shift at an Animal Hospital, working alone or with up to three other players. Patients line up at the check-in window; your job is to admit the healthy ones and refuse the anomalies. Survive the shift with your sanity intact and you win.
The check-in routine
Every patient should pass the same four-part routine. Skipping a step is the single most common reason players fail a run.
| # | Step | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Appearance — study the patient for 4–5 seconds | Catches appearance anomalies like extra eyes, twitching and sharp teeth. |
| 2 | Photo — snap a picture and let it develop | Catches photo anomalies. Grabbing a cursed photo early drains sanity. |
| 3 | CCTV — sweep the camera feeds | Catches CCTV anomalies — including the Skinwalker, which looks normal everywhere else. |
| 4 | Decide — open the shutters or deny | When in doubt, keep the shutters closed. Denial is almost always the safe choice. |
The sanity meter
Sanity is your health bar. It drops when you admit an anomaly, pick up a cursed photo too early, or get too close to roaming monsters like the Head Banger or Stalker. Coffee restores it, and helping Barney rewards a second coffee machine to make sanity easier to manage.
Tools & items
| Item | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Photographs a patient to reveal photo anomalies. Always let the picture fully develop. |
| CCTV system | Security feeds that expose camera-only anomalies like the Skinwalker and Void Body. |
| Shutters | Your main defence — close them to deny any patient you are unsure about. |
| Coffee | Restores sanity and calms the Head Banger so it leaves the window. |
| Maple Syrup | Feeds the Bed Monster so it retreats without dragging anyone under. |
| Eyedrops | Counter for the Mass of Eyes so you can pass without losing sanity. |
| Taser | Unlocked after a few shifts. Stuns roaming threats and gives a small sanity bonus on a confirmed anomaly. |
| Gun | Purchasable weapon that neutralises hostile entities like ghosts and shapeshifters. |
