How to Play Animal Hospital

A beginner-friendly guide to surviving the night shift: the check-in routine, the sanity meter and every tool you'll use to catch anomalies.

The goal

You've been hired for the night shift at an Animal Hospital, working alone or with up to three other players. Patients line up at the check-in window; your job is to admit the healthy ones and refuse the anomalies. Survive the shift with your sanity intact and you win.

The check-in routine

Every patient should pass the same four-part routine. Skipping a step is the single most common reason players fail a run.

#StepWhy it matters
1Appearance — study the patient for 4–5 secondsCatches appearance anomalies like extra eyes, twitching and sharp teeth.
2Photo — snap a picture and let it developCatches photo anomalies. Grabbing a cursed photo early drains sanity.
3CCTV — sweep the camera feedsCatches CCTV anomalies — including the Skinwalker, which looks normal everywhere else.
4Decide — open the shutters or denyWhen in doubt, keep the shutters closed. Denial is almost always the safe choice.

The sanity meter

Sanity is your health bar. It drops when you admit an anomaly, pick up a cursed photo too early, or get too close to roaming monsters like the Head Banger or Stalker. Coffee restores it, and helping Barney rewards a second coffee machine to make sanity easier to manage.
