Taser
Your first weapon, unlocked after a few shifts. Stuns roaming threats and gives a small sanity bonus on a confirmed anomaly.
What it does
The taser is the first weapon you earn, typically after a few completed shifts, and it turns the roaming monsters from unavoidable sanity drains into manageable threats. Using it on a confirmed anomaly even returns a small sanity bonus, so it can be a net positive rather than just a defensive tool.
It shines against mobile entities: ghosts that drift toward you, a Shapeshifter (now called the Mimic) that suddenly drops its disguise, and Hiders you have pinpointed by their heavy breathing. Keeping it ready means you are never caught defenceless mid-shift.
The taser is not a substitute for good check-in habits — it does nothing about a patient you admit at the window — but for anything already loose inside the hospital, it is your reliable first answer.
Main uses
- Drive off ghosts that close in on you
- Stop a Shapeshifter/Mimic the moment it transforms
- Deal with Hiders you have located by their heavy breathing
Anomalies it counters
| Anomaly | Category | Danger |
|---|---|---|
| Ghost | 🩸 Monsters | Medium |
| Shapeshifter | 🩸 Monsters | High |
| Hiders | 🩸 Monsters | Medium |
Tips
- Keep the taser ready when you sense a roaming threat; the transformation of a Mimic is fast.
- Landing it on a confirmed anomaly gives a small sanity refund — a nice bonus.
